Abstrakt
The dynamic development of the practice and theory of social participation of children and youth observed in recent decades has its roots in the pedagogy and philosophy of education created by Janusz Korczak. The analysis conducted on the formal foundations of children’s participation and on multi-issued discourse in modern literature makes it possible to indicate the accentuated perspectives of the topic, but also to identify the Korczakian echoes on children and calling for relations between adults and children. This paper presents the results of the overview analysis, in which Korczak’s views as presented in his main pedagogical texts are compared with the main features identified in the modern discourse on children’s participation and its currently dominant perspectives of its understanding and development. The conclusion is that Korczak’s views are still relevant even though they were presented long time ago. They appeared to be the foundations of the idea and practice of children’s participation in the trends observed today.
